About This Course
Maths Level 2 – Standard teaches you everything you need to know to gain a Functional Skills qualification in maths, which is widely recognised as an alternative to traditional GCSEs. Functional skills maths teaches you the practical skills needed to use maths at home and work and in everyday situations. This ranges from being able to work out 20% off that coat you want in the sale to understanding stats for business. Because of this, you’ll be able to put your new-found knowledge gained through Maths Level 2 – Standard to work straight away, in the real world.

Who is this course for?

Maths Level 2 – Standard is designed for people who have not passed, or had the opportunity to sit, their maths GCSE and require the qualification (at a minimum of a grade 4/C) for their next step in life. Whether this be a new career or setting up your own business, Functional Skills maths (Level 2) will provide you with all the numeracy skills you need for success. This online maths course is also suited to people that want to refresh their maths knowledge in order to feel more confident in the workplace or at home when faced with numbers.

What will you get from this course?

Maths Level 2 – Standard prepares you for the Level 2 Functional Skills maths exam. Once you have completed and passed the exam, you will have a qualification equivalent to a grade 4 - 9 (C - A*) at GCSE in mathematics. You will have developed your maths skills so that you’re able to use and understand maths in a range of different situations with confidence and ease.

When you have completed this course, you will be able to:
- Confidently add, subtract, divide and multiply numbers
- Calculate percentages and ratios
- Work with whole numbers, decimals and fractions
- Handle data and present information
- Understand statistics and identify data trends
- Solve everyday issues, such as time planning and map reading

Using numbers: addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, whole numbers, decimals, fractions and percentages and ratios in a real-life context
Understanding measure, shape and space: calculating time, speed, temperature and distance and solving everyday problems
Handling data: summarising and presenting information, calculating probability, understanding data and statistics bias and spotting patterns within data sets

Assessment

At the conclusion of each module there is a multiple choice question assessment. This will help you remember the main points of the lesson and act as a check that you have retained the essential knowledge and understanding of that particular section. The results can be seen instantaneously and you can correct wrong answers. When the result is satisfactory you can progress to the next module.
